The NIGHTTREE Twist-Light follows the design philosophy where simplicity is key, and practicality with an involved user experience or interaction is important. As with lighting, the actual ambient lighting effect is the main objective with no compromise. As well as following a design aesthetic of Japandi, a Japanese and Scandinavian fusion of design, with the use of natural materials and the integration of modern technologies.

Twist-Light is a table lamp with a medium to low brightness that has a wide soft spread of light from its large diffusion area, a light that would softly light one half of a room yet one could look at the light source without straining their eyes. It also has a unique user experience, that is the twisting switching mechanism. It also has an uninterrupted light utilizing a built-in battery.

A new two-stage twist-type of switch was designed as an alternative to in-line switches that typically slide behind the table, as well as touch-sensitive dimming switches that require the need to cycle through the bright light to get to a low-level light. The twist-switch mechanism is part of the lamp, in a way the lamp itself is the switch, and the user engages with the lamp, holding the top wooding ring and turning it clockwise to the two brightness levels and anti-clockwise to turn it off. The top ring also acts as a grip to pick and carry the lamp, which in a way becomes an indoor lantern. The electrical components create an uninterrupted light source, so the lamp can be charged when in use. And switched over almost instantly when there is a loss of power whether unplugged to be portable or in the event of a power outage. The design has made it possible to replace the lithium battery via the bottom cover with 4 screws, this allows the lamp to have a very long lifespan. The Japanese paper was used as a diffuser for its amazing properties to diffuse light while still having a very high transmission, though been a very thin paper the mulberry and hemp mix creates a very durable material with a lovely natural texture and keeps with the inspiration of the of Japanese Andon and Chochin lanterns.
